There are moments when the landscape seems to hold its breath.
In Winter River, a lone deer stands at the edge of the water beneath a grove of winter cypress. Bare branches rise above the river while their reflections descend into the cool blue water, blurring the boundary between the landscape and its mirrored image.
The deer is small within the scene, alert but still. Rather than dominating the landscape, it becomes part of it, a brief living presence among trees that have endured season after season.
As part of the Life in Nature collection, Winter River reflects on those quiet intervals when movement gives way to stillness. The season will change, the deer will move on, and the river will continue, but for a moment everything occupies the same quiet space.
