The path turns, and we can never know where it leads.
A woman and child walk together beside the water, following a path as it curves beyond view. We can see where they are now, but not where the path will take them. Like much of life, the destination remains somewhere beyond the next turn.
The landscape is based on the San Antonio River, but The Sojourn is less about a particular place than the experience of moving through it together. The figures are small within the landscape, sharing the journey while each still occupies her own place along the path.
As part of the Life in Nature collection, The Sojourn explores the choices, obstacles, companionship, and solitude we encounter along the way. The path continues beyond what we can see, as it always does.
